Search Features
Following are the Search Features implemented in Bible Concordance With You.
Note: *You do not need all search features to use
successfully this product. If using them is too complicated for you, just ignore them.
- Phrases search*
Bible Concordance With You allows you to search for phrases.
Just type the phrase in double quotation marks.
If you type ("Son of God"), the result will be only the verses
containing the words exactly in this order.
If you type ("God said" "Let there be"), the result will be all
verses containing both phrases, and there is no matter what is the order of the phrases.
If you type ("God said" Let be), the result will be all verses
containing the phrase 'God said' and the words 'Let' and 'be' no matter what is their order. - Alternative Search*
If you search alternatively for words, the result will be all verses containing any
of the searched words. Use the vertical line symbol ('|')
as a separator. For example, if you type (saul|paul|timothy) without spaces, you will
receive a list with the references for the words 'saul', 'paul', 'timothy' respectively.
- Wildcard Search*
Substitute zero, one or more letters of a word with an asterisk (*).
Type the asterisk at the end of the word or inside of it. For example, if you search for (find*),
the result will be all verses containing the word 'find' and its derivatives -
'finding', 'findeth',
'findest'. If you search for "f*d"
the result will be the verses containing all words beginning with 'f' and ending with 'd'.
Warning: Do not type the asterisk at the beginning of the word - for example,(*ing).
- Excluding Search*
Exclude certain words or phrases from your search enquiry.
Put an exclamation mark (!) before each word or phrase that
will be excluded from search. For example, if you type (David !said),
the result will be all verses containing the word 'David' and not the word 'said'.
In order to exclude phrases from search, type (!) in front of them (for example, !"David saw").
Note: If you type 'find !me !him', the result will be
all verses for 'find' excluding those that have both 'him' and 'me'. This may be represented by the mathematical expression
'find/(me∩him)'.
If you type 'find !me|him' (equal to '(find/me)/him')
the result will be all verses for 'find' containing neither of the words 'me' or 'him'.
- Search Expressions*
Create search expressions using different search features in combinations
(for example, "God|Lord said" !shall|blessed|tree).
Rules:
- The Alternative Words Search and Wild Card Search could be used in combinations
like (God|Lord sa*), but not in one expression (f*ing|f*d);
- Do not write an exclamation mark inside a phrase ("!David said"), but in front of it (!"David said").
- New in 5.0: Search for Strong's numbers
Allows you to search for Strong's
numbers Available in
Bible Concordance With You for Bible translations that have Strong' numbers - Bible Concordance With You (KJV)
and Bible Concordance With You (NASB)
- New in 5.0: Mixed search for words and Strong's numbers
A possibility to search simultaneously for words and for Strong's numbers. Helps you find the verses
in which an original Hebrew/Greek word has been translated as a particular word. (For example,
Strong's number H776 has
several translations - common (1), countries (15),
countries and their lands (1)..., etc..
To find the verse, where H776 has been translated as 'common':
- Launch Bible Concordance With You
- Select Concordance from the Book menu
- enable both a Concordances and a Strongs
Concordance
- type h776 common in the Lookup field
- the result will be - Lev 4:27

| Q: |
What does the (KJV) in the product name mean?
|
| A: |
KJV is the abbreviation used for the King James Version of the Bible.
In 1604, King James I of England authorized that a new translation of the Bible into
English be started. It was finished in 1611, 85 years after the first translation of the
New Testament into English appeared (Tyndale, 1526). The Authorized Version, or King James
Version, quickly became the standard for English-speaking Protestants. Its flowing language
and prose rhythm has had a profound influence on the literature of the past 300 years. |
