- Palm OS Required
Our products for Palm PDA devices require at least Palm OS version 3.5.
- Memory Requirements
Because of the great number of GMPSoft resources you may use from
either RAM of your Palm PDA or an expansion card, it is very difficult to define the exact
amount of memory you must have on your handheld. To help you with that we have provided free full functional trial of
the products — you install the full volumes of the files to test and adjust the necessary system resources.
For example:
- If you use Bible With You for one Bible translation from RAM, provide
approximately 300Kb free RAM on your Palm PDA necessary for proper operation (besides
the memory required for installing the product's files in RAM or the card.)
- If you use more GMPSoft applications and Study Books (commentaries, Bible notes, lexicons)
from RAM or a card, you need to provide more free RAM for proper operation (critical requirements for
the free RAM vary from 700Kb to 1.3Mb.)
- Expansion Cards
GMPSoft Palm PDA applications use VFS to work with MMC, SD cards and Memory Sticks.
You may store both the application files (.prc type) and the databases (.pdb files) on an expansion card.
(Install the .prc files in \Palm\Launcher folder of the card.)

| Q: |
What does the (BWE) in the product name mean?
|
| A: |
BWE stands for the Bible in Worldwide English. The BWE consists of the New Testament written in easy, worldwide English, using a vocabulary of only 1,500 words plus names - much fewer than any other simple English edition. Each word and phrase has been carefully checked to give true understanding in different countries and regions.
This version was originally prepared by Annie Cressman, a Canadian Bible teacher in Liberia in West Africa. Whilst teaching students in a Bible School where the language used was English, Miss Cressman found that she was spending more time explaining the meaning of the English than she was teaching the Bible itself. So she decided to write this simple version in easy English so that her students could easily understand. Miss Cressman used the Authorised (King James) Version - itself an easy English version of its day - rather than make a fresh translation from the Greek language. She taught and wrote down the New Testament in words and sentences that she knew her students would understand.
In 1959 the Full Gospel Publishing House in Toronto, Canada, printed a trial edition of the Gospel of Mark. A further edition was published in 1962 by the American Bible Society. The whole New Testament was first published by SOON Publications in India in 1969 in hardback form. This was assisted by Operation Mobilisation (OM) and was reprinted in 1971. |

| Q: |
I tried to use the software but received error message 'Database not found. Leaving...'.
What should I do?
|
| A: |
Usually the Palm software consists of two parts - application files (with an
extension .prc) and database files (with an extension .pdb). The
message you have received indicates you need to install the .pdb files of the
applications you have. |
| |
| Q: |
Can I move the application on an expansion card
|
| A: |
Yes, our products support expansion cards (MMC, SD, memory sticks). You can store both the
databases (.pdb) and the application (.prc) files on an expansion card. |
| |
| Q: |
I received a message: 'Bible has older version than your application requires and shall
not be opened'. What should I do?
|
| A: |
GMPSoft endeavor to achieve greater speed of operation of its products so we are continually
improving the data structure formats. The new versions of the products do not support the
older data formats purposely, so the speed would not decrease. In order to prevent this we
have implemented a mechanism for protection. The message you have received is a result of
this protection.
Usually this happens when you use some GMPSoft products and have installed a more recent
version of one of them.
To resolve the situation you must download latest versions of all our products that
you use (updates are free). |
| |
| Q: |
I have received only Genesis 1 and not the rest of the Bible. What should I do?
|
| A: |
All GMPSoft products are full
functional shareware - all downloaded copies provide full functionality, so we can
assure you that you have downloaded the complete Bible. (We do not distribute copies of
our products containing only parts of the bible.)
For the complete instructions how to use Bible With You, read the User Guide (select
a Bible translation from GMPSoft's Products
List, go to it and click on User Guide button. |
| |
| Q: |
Can I use the free limited License for Bible With You in Bible Concordance With You?
|
| A: |
No, Bible Concordance With You (BCWY) works with two databases that use different licenses
and need separate registration:
Concordance database - uses the License of BCWY. There are no free limited
licenses for that database.
Bible database - uses the License for Bible With You. The free Limited License
for a Bible database does not give right to use the Bible database in the concordance. |
| |
| Q: |
I receive a message: 'Duplicate Databases Found. This may cause problems in opening the
desired version. Removing the duplicates is recommended.' How can I remove the duplicates
referenced?
|
| A: |
This message alerts that the same database files were found in two or more different
locations of your device:
in RAM and on an expansion card, or
in different directories of the expansion card
The message only warns you but you could continue to use the application. Deletion
of duplicates is recommended so when you install updates, there will not be older files that
does not work with updated versions of the product.
To delete the files, please, read the manual of your device. Newer devices allow you to
manage the files of which the application consists (one .prc and one .pdb), while older
models can manage an application only as a whole. |
